A woman has been admitted to leaving the scene of a tragic accident in Pitsea that killed two children.
Two Children Dead in Essex E-Scooter Smash
Roman Casselden, 16, and his sister Darcie, 9, lost their lives after the privately owned e-scooter they were riding collided with a car in Ashlyns on February 1 last year.
Driver Charged for Failing to Stop
Essex Police launched a Serious Collision Investigation and found no offences linked to the cause of the crash. But the driver, 21-year-old Deimante Ziobryte from Benfleet, failed to stop at the scene.
Officers caught her nearby, and she was charged with failing to stop at the scene of a collision.
Guilty Plea and Upcoming Sentence
Ziobryte pleaded guilty at Basildon Magistrates’ Court on March 6. She faces sentencing at the same court on May 6.
“My thoughts, and those of my team, are with Roman and Darcie’s friends and family,” said Detective Sergeant Sam Nason, who led the investigation.
