Firefighters Battle Blaze at Reading Flats as One Injured

Fire crews from across Reading rushed to Luscinia View this morning after a fire broke out in a ground floor flat. A huge police cordon now seals off the scene as investigators probe the cause. One firefighter has been taken to hospital following the incident.

Multiple Fire Crews Respond to Ground Floor Blaze

At around 9:30am, fire teams from four stations – Caversham Road, Wokingham Road, Dee Road, and Whitley Wood – were mobilised to a multi-dwelling block in central Reading. Crews entered flat number 12 on the ground floor wearing breathing apparatus to tackle the flames.

Gas and Electricity Cut Off as Firefighters Tackle Flames

Firefighters quickly isolated gas and electricity supplies to the property to prevent further danger. They deployed one jet and a high-pressure hose reel to douse the fire effectively. A thorough search of the flat was conducted, although it’s unclear if anyone was found inside.

Police Seal Off Flats and Scene of Crime Officers Launch Investigation

Police erected a large cordon around the block, keeping residents and onlookers away. Thames Valley Police’s Scene of Crime Officers have arrived to investigate the fire’s origins. Meanwhile, the injured firefighter has been taken to hospital by ambulance.
