Tragic A24 Crash Claims Life of Pedestrian

A fatal collision rocked Merantun Way at around 12.15pm on Sunday, 28 July. Emergency crews were scrambled after a car struck four pedestrians on the busy A24.

One Dead, Others Hospitalised

Despite frantic efforts by police and London Ambulance Service, a 49-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. His family have been informed.

The car driver stopped and was rushed to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Three other pedestrians involved were also taken to hospital, all with injuries deemed not life-threatening.

Serious Collision Unit Investigates

Merton’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit is leading the probe. No arrests have been made so far.

Witnesses and anyone with dashcam footage are urged to contact police on 101, quoting reference 3284/28JUL24.
