Bank Holiday Horror After Man Shot In Reading yards from Child Play

Police launch investigation after a man has been shot at Prospect Park in Reading this evening. A man has been airlifted to hospital after being shot by a weapon on the Tilehurst Road side of the park. A large number police remain in and around the area of where the incident happened and where the air ambulance landing at the centre of the park. The shooting took place yard from a child play park area. Police were called to Prospect Park at around 8pm today after reports that a man had been shot. The victim, a 23 year-old man, was located at the scene with a gunshot wound. He was taken to hospital by air ambulance and is currently in a stable buy doxycycline condition. Local Policing Area Commander for Reading, Supt Stan Gilmour said: “I would like to reassure the public that this attack appears to have been targeted against an individual and does not represent a threat to the community. “A thorough investigation is being carried out, which means there will be an increased police presence in the area in the coming days. If you have any concerns or information to pass on then please approach one of our officers. “Tilehurst road remains closed at this time. No personal details are taken, information is not traced or recorded and you will not go to court.”
