Police are appealing for witnesses following an incident of rape in Didcot this evening. At around 7pm a member of the public phoned police to say they had located a distressed woman in Newlands Avenue. The victim, a woman aged in her thirties, reported having been raped by a man while inside nearby Edmonds Park. The victim is being offered support by specially trained officers. A cordon is in place in Edmonds Park and will remain in place while officers are carrying out enquiries in the area. Even if details seem insignificant to you, I urge you to come forward, as they may be important to the investigation. “Officers are carrying out patrols in the area and anyone who has any information, or has any concerns, should approach and speak to an officer or call 101.” Anyone with any information about the incident should contact the 24-hour Thames Valley Police enquiry centre on 101.
