A metal pole came loose in high winds on Saturday afternoon, injuring two people at the Isle of Wight Festival

They were sitting in a bar under canvas when a tent pole snapped and struck them.

According to a witness who saw one woman get hurt, “a heavy steel tent pole hit a woman when it became dislodged in high winds in a beer bar in the Octopus Garden area.”

“According to a festival spokesperson, “during a period of high winds on-site yesterday, two people were minorly injured when a pole within a small bar tent became loose.”

“The onsite medical team provided medical attention within four minutes, the structure was safely secured, and both people were discharged back into the festival.”

“The festival team prioritises the health and safety of all festival attendees.”

When the winds picked up, the music on the Main Stage had to be halted for safety reasons.

Blossoms had to end their set early, but Kasabian was back in action – albeit with the speakers unable to be raised to the top of the stage and the sound appearing muffled to many onlookers.
