Jail Beast Gets Extra Time After Brutal Prison Attack
Prisoner Slashes Inmate’s Face at HMP Swaleside
Baz Hockton, a prisoner from Ramsgate, has had his prison sentence beefed up after viciously attacking a fellow inmate at HMP Swaleside on April 8, 2019. The violent assault unfolded on a stairwell at the Isle of Sheppey jail, where Hockton used a weapon to slash his victim’s face, leaving permanent scars.
Double Trouble: Extra Ten Years Added
Hockton, already locked up for 23 years following a separate case investigated by the Met Police, was slapped with an additional 10-year sentence for wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. The new sentence, handed down at the Old Bailey on October 8, will run concurrently with his existing time.
Detective Calls Hockton ‘Violent and Dangerous’
“Hockton is a violent and dangerous man. The victim for the assault at Swaleside was attacked without provocation and received substantial injuries,” said Detective Constable Karen Hearn.
“This type of behaviour is shocking and not acceptable, and I’m pleased he has been sentenced accordingly.”
