A 23-year-old man will face court charged with the murder of a 21-year-old in Filton last week. Zack Coughlan was arrested on Sunday, April 12, and charged with killing Jamie Collins.

Tragic Scene in Shared Garden

Emergency services rushed to a garden behind a house share on Cleve Road in the early hours of Thursday, April 9. Both men lived in the property. Jamie Collins was found dead at the scene.

Legal Action and Police Statement

Coughlan remains in custody and is due in Bristol Magistrates’ Court today, Tuesday, April 14. Detective Chief Inspector Lucy Edgeworth of Avon & Somerset Police confirmed the CPS had authorised the murder charge.

“The formal identification process has not yet been completed but we are releasing Jamie’s name at this point, with his family’s knowledge, because it will form part of the court proceedings and be a matter of public record,” DCI Edgeworth said. “Our thoughts are with Jamie’s family at this hugely difficult time. Specially-trained officers are offering them support and keeping them regularly updated. We politely ask the public to respect their privacy.”
