Brave Kids Save Dad’s Life After Sudden Cardiac Arrest
On 1 March 2022, ten-year-old Sadie and seven-year-old Jude Waters faced a nightmare no child should. While travelling with their dad Stuart Waters, he suffered a sudden cardiac arrest behind the wheel.
Quick-Thinking Kids Spring Into Action
The children stayed calm, quickly checked on their dad, and knew they had to act fast. They ran home to alert their mum. Neighbours rushed to help, performing CPR while emergency services were called.
Dad Makes Full Recovery Thanks to Heroic Kids
Stuart was rushed to hospital and eventually made a full recovery. On 22 May, Sergeant Joe Breen and PC Steven Shipley honoured Sadie and Jude with a Schools Team Certificate of Resilience and a gift bag for their bravery.
“Sadie and Jude ultimately saved their dad’s life during what was clearly an extremely distressing event. Medical staff said that without their incredibly swift actions it would likely have been a different outcome. They should both be exceptionally proud of themselves, as no doubt their family, friends and neighbours are too.” – Sgt Joe Breen
