Kent Police have received a custody extension for a 24-year-old suspect following a serious assault that left a soldier in his 40s with stab wounds. The incident occurred at Sally Port Gardens in Gillingham around 5:55 PM on Tuesday, July 23, 2024.

Authorities responded to reports of the assault and discovered the victim, a soldier, suffering from multiple stab wounds. He was promptly transported to a hospital, where he is currently listed in serious but stable condition.

The suspect, a local man, reportedly fled the scene on a motorcycle but was apprehended shortly after at 6:30 PM in Mooring Road, Rochester. Following his arrest, he has been in police custody for initial questioning.
