A 21-year-old man has been arrested following a series of suspected arson attacks on homes in north London reportedly linked to Prime Minister Keir Starmer.

The suspect, from Sydenham, was taken into custody during the early hours of Tuesday, May 13, on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life. He remains in custody as counter-terrorism officers lead the investigation due to the properties’ connection with a high-profile public figure.

Timeline of Incidents Under Investigation

  • Sunday, May 11: Fire reported at the entrance of a property in N7.
  • Monday, May 12 (1.35am): London Fire Brigade alerted police to a blaze at a residential address in Kentish Town (NW5). Damage was caused to the entrance, but no injuries were reported.
  • Thursday, May 8: A vehicle fire was reported in the NW5 area, now also being treated as part of the inquiry.

All three fires are being treated as suspicious, and police are working to determine whether they are linked.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said:

“A man has been arrested in connection with a series of arson attacks.
The Met Police said enquiries are ongoing to determine the exact cause of each fire and whether the same individual was involved in all three incidents.
