In a heart-wrenching announcement, Neighbours actress Kym Valentine shared the news of the passing of her co-star Troy Beckwith, who played the role of Michael Martin in the iconic Australian soap opera during the 1990s.
Valentine took to Facebook to express her grief, writing, “It pains me so much to have to say this. Our dear old friend Troy Beckwith has passed away. Another member of our TV family has gone way too soon. Thanks for all the memories, my cheeky mate, and all my love to your friends and family.”

The announcement was accompanied by a poignant photo of Valentine and Beckwith from their younger days, capturing a moment of laughter while dressed up for an event. Beckwith’s journey on Neighbours began with the guest character Darren Wood and later evolved into the memorable portrayal of Michael Martin from 1992 to 1998.
Neighbours casting director Jan Russ joined the outpouring of condolences, commenting on Valentine’s post with a heartfelt, “Oh no!!! Dear Troy… That is so sad…gorgeous boy.”
Known for his character’s villainous behaviour, some fans affectionately dubbed Beckwith as “Sicko Micko.” Australian actor Brett Blewitt, who shared the Neighbours stage with Beckwith, paid tribute, describing him as “such a lovely person” and highlighting his depth of thoughtfulness and empathy. Blewitt concluded, “Way too soon. Love you mate xx.”
Beckwith’s impact extended beyond Ramsay Street, as he also graced the screen in the sci-fi comedy *The Miraculous Mellops* and the beloved 80s kids TV show *Pugwall*. While there will be no funeral, honouring Beckwith’s request, the memories of his contributions to the world of Australian entertainment will endure.
As the Neighbours community mourns the loss of one of its own, the legacy of Troy Beckwith lives on through the cherished moments and characters he brought to life on the small screen.
