Police Appeal for Witnesses Following Attempted Robbery in Margate

Kent Police are appealing for witnesses after a teenage boy was targeted in an attempted robbery while riding his e-scooter in Margate on Wednesday, February 19, 2025.

The incident occurred at around 7:00 PM as the victim was travelling along Approach Road towards Northdown Park Road. When the teenager stopped at the junction of Lower Northdown Avenue, another boy, also on an e-scooter, approached him and launched an assault, attempting to steal the victim’s scooter.

Taser-like Weapon Used in Attack

During the struggle, the attacker reportedly brandished a weapon described as similar to a taser and used it in an attempt to intimidate the victim. Fortunately, a woman passing by intervened, causing the would-be thief to flee the scene empty-handed.
Police are also asking for anyone who may have CCTV, doorbell camera, or dashcam footage from the area around the time of the incident to come forward.
