Gun Criminal Busted in Liverpool: Sentenced to 5 Years

Anthony James Davies, 28, from Alfonso Road, Liverpool, has been slammed with a five-year prison sentence after being found guilty of multiple firearms offences. The man was nabbed last September after acting suspiciously near Beatrice Street, Sefton.

High-Speed Foot Chase Ends in Glock Seizure

Police on Operation Target tried to stop Davies, but he bolted. After a brief foot chase, officers caught him and recovered a bag he tried to ditch. Inside? A Glock handgun, bullets, and a gun magazine.

“We are absolutely committed to taking guns off our streets,” said Detective Inspector Sabi Kaur of the Firearms Investigation Team. “It is pure stupidity to be wandering the streets with a gun. I’m relieved this weapon was recovered before it was too late.”

“I hope Davies’s sentence opens the eyes of young people. Even carrying a gun without the right certification can land you a hefty jail term, tear families apart and ruin your future.”

Another Gun Arrest in the Same Week

Just days earlier, 29-year-old Anthony Foat of South Ferry Quay was also charged with possession of a prohibited weapon and ammunition. A raid on his home led to the seizure of another firearm. Foat was remanded in custody at Liverpool Crown Court and will face trial later this month.

Police Warn: Gun Crime Is Spiralling, Communities Must Act

DI Kaur added, “Carrying and using a gun will always come at a cost. Tragically, just last night a 19-year-old was shot dead in Stockbridge Village. This horror has rocked the whole community.”

“More people are recklessly gambling with their futures by carrying guns. We all need to educate young people about the deadly risks of gun crime. We are determined to stop gang violence and the fear it spreads on our streets.”

“But we can’t do it alone. To save lives, we need your help. Report suspicious activity, tip us off about hidden weapons, and always report crime. One life lost to gun violence is one too many—enough is enough.”
