Police were called to a fight on Chigwell Road around 12.10 a.m. on Friday, June 3rd.
Officers and the London Ambulance Service responded and discovered a man in his 30s with stab wounds. Despite the best efforts of emergency personnel, he was declared dead at the scene.
Although formal identification is pending, the deceased is believed to be Lamar Jackson, 39, of Hackney. Mr Jackson’s family has been notified and is being assisted by special officers.
In due course, a post-mortem examination will be performed.
The investigation is being led by detectives from the Specialist Crime Command.
“This attack happened at a party, and we know a large number of people would have been in attendance,” Detective Chief Inspector Laurence Smith said. “I would encourage anyone who has yet to speak with us to come forward and tell us what they saw.” It’s possible that the events leading up to the stabbing, and possibly the murder itself, were recorded on people’s phones. Please take a look and give us a call. It is critical that we figure out what happened.”
A crime scene still exists.
There have been no arrests, and the investigation is still ongoing.
