uknip247 Seven people have been arrested for drug offences after 10 warrants were carried out in the early hours of today (Wednesday, 22 April).
As part of ongoing proactive work under Operation Continuum, raids were carried out in the Woodberry Down, Brownswood and Stamford Hill areas.
All seven males, aged between 17 to 22, were arrested on conspiracy to supply Class A drugs. They have been taken into custody at east London police stations.
Detective Inspector Sean Lyons, from the Gangs Unit in Hackney and Tower Hamlets, said: “Just over a month ago, officers working on Operation Continuum arrested 16 people for drug supply offences across Tower Hamlets.
“We have been back out again this morning, this time in Hackney, to arrest more people who we suspect to be involved in the peddling of drugs on our streets. We will continue to bear down on those who are dealing drugs in Central East and prosecute anyone involved.”
Operation Continuum was originally established in Tower Hamlets to crack down on drug dealing and make neighbourhoods cleaner and safer. It is a partnership operation with the Metropolitan Police, local authority and housing associations.
On the last series of warrants, that took place on 12 March, 20 warrants were executed in the Mile End area, 14 people were arrested and a large seizure of Class A drugs and cash were evidenced.
All Op Continuum warrants so far this year have been supported by officers from the local Basic Command Unit (BCU), Taskforce Command and local Gangs Taskforce as well as officers from the Met’s Dog Unit.
To support vulnerable individuals with substance misuse issues who may be affected by this morning’s warrants, Hackney Council have been working together with outreach workers in the area to help individuals access support services and listen to any local concerns.
