Search Intensifies Amid Flooded Roads and Torrential Weather

Nicholas was reported missing at 9.11pm on Thursday, November 3, 2022, after he failed to return home. The search kicked off immediately, with coastguard helicopters, Kent Search and Rescue teams, and police officers scouring the area.

Teams have expanded their efforts into neighbouring villages, combing gardens, hedgerows, and footpaths by torchlight despite foul weather and road flooding due to recent heavy downpours.

A control point has been set up at the junction of Mayes Road and Goulding Road in Marden to coordinate volunteers and police. South East 4×4 volunteers have also been called in to tackle impassable routes.

Police Appeal to Locals for Help

Officers have been seen outside Marden Railway station near the takeaway where Nicholas was last spotted. They are speaking to residents in a bid to gather any information that could lead to his safe return.

Inspector Suzy McDonnell said: “We are very concerned for this man’s welfare as there is considerable flooding on local roads, which he may have sought to avoid by walking along footpaths or across fields. Emergency services are searching the Marden area, and we are appealing to anybody who has seen Nicholas or knows of his whereabouts to contact us.”

Anyone with information is urged to call 999, quoting reference 3-1344.
