Convicted Sex Offender Escapes After Prison Blunder
William Fernandez, 24, charged last year with sexual assault, indecent exposure, and possessing a class B drug, was mistakenly released from HMP Wormwood Scrubs on the evening of Wednesday 24 March. The Met was alerted by prison staff after the shocking error.
Vanished Into Thin Air After Catching the Tube
Fernandez was last seen travelling on the London Underground from East Acton station. CCTV footage captured him at Oxford Circus station at 8:38pm and later walking along Wealdstone High Street. Since then, he has disappeared without a trace.
Manhunt Underway as Police Hunt Dangerous Fugitive
- Fernandez is white, medium build, with thinning hair and a dark beard.
- He has a distinctive cross tattoo on the left side of his neck.
- Last seen wearing a black tracksuit and black hat.
- Also known as Agustin Fernando Jimenez Eiberte.
- Likely to be in west London but moves frequently via public transport.
Detective Chief Inspector Lucy O’Connor pleaded: “I would urge anyone who knows of Fernandez’s whereabouts to contact us immediately. Any information, no matter how small, may be able to assist our investigation.”
