A man in his 40s has been found dead at a property in Harlow Green, Gateshead, sparking a police investigation into a potentially lethal batch of illegal drugs circulating in the area.

Northumbria Police confirmed the man was discovered on Friday, 21 June, and believe his death may be linked to four other recent cardiac arrests reported in the Gateshead area since Thursday.
“Protecting people from harm is our utmost priority,” said a police spokesperson. “We are doing all we can to warn people about a potential threat to their lives.”
