Blaze Breaks Out at Southampton Tower Block
Six fire engines and crews from Hampshire Fire and Rescue rushed to Millbrook Tower on Windmere Avenue, Southampton, after a flat caught fire on Tuesday morning.
Quick Action Saves Lives
Firefighters from St Mary’s, Redbridge, and Eastleigh arrived to find the sprinklers had kicked in, controlling the blaze before it spread. Thankfully, all residents were accounted for shortly after crews arrived.
Fire Damage Limited but Water Damage Severe
The fire caused around 10% damage to the flat. However, water damage from sprinkler and firefighting efforts soaked the entire property. Crews used breathing apparatus, water jets, and tactical ventilation to fully snuff out the flames.
Safety Checks Follow Fire
To keep neighbours safe, firefighters carried out community safety visits in adjoining flats, offering advice and reassurance after the scary incident.
