Detectives are appealing for witnesses following an attempted robbery at a jewellery store in Andover. It took place at 10.50am on Wednesday, April 27 at David Mellor Jewellers, in Waterloo Court, Andover. Two offenders approached the store on a black scooter, and tried to smash the glass storefront with lump hammers and a knife. They were unable to break the glass and were chased off by the store’s manager. It is believed the offenders then travelled to the London area. Nothing was taken from the store. Detectives have released a CCTV image of two people they would like to speak to about the attempted robbery. Both wore dark clothing, while one wore a dark-coloured motorcycle helmet and the other a white helmet. Detective Constable Jonathan Swift, of Northern CID, said: “This was a brazen daylight robbery attempt. “We would like to hear from anyone who saw the two figures in the CCTV image travelling to or from the scene. “We would also like to hear from anyone who witnessed what happened or anyone who has any knowledge of the offence.” Anyone with information is asked to contact 101, quoting 44160158481.
