Solihull School’s Epic 50KM Trek Raises £58,000 for Sri Lanka
‘Team Solihull’, a mighty squad of 25 pupils, parents, and staff – past and present – smashed a 50KM Easter Ultra Challenge. They raised a whopping £58,000 to bring clean water wells to Sri Lanka’s poorest, partnering with charities Assist RR UK and IMHO USA.
Muddy 50KM March From Windsor
The team, led by Mark Penney, Head of Solihull Prep School, tackled the brutal ultra on Saturday 1 April. They set off from Windsor Racecourse at 8.30am and finished 12 hours later, battling muddy trails without giving up.
“This is our second ‘Team Solihull’ Ultra Challenge. The camaraderie and positivity were outstanding!” said Mr Penney. “Three of our Windsor walkers completed 25KM, Kana Thuryrajah added 25KM in Kuala Lumpur, and 21 earned their 50KM medals. In total, Team Solihull walked a massive 1,150KM in one day to help those in desperate need across North, East and Upcountry Sri Lanka.”
Generosity Soars with £58,000 Raised
Thanks to fundraising both in the UK and US — plus a generous $20,000 match from IMHO USA — over £58,000 has poured in, with donations still coming. Mr Penney expressed heartfelt thanks:

Life-Changing Impact for Sri Lanka’s Poorest
Many Sri Lankans lack clean drinking water. The money raised will fund:
