Silent Witness Welcomes New Faces in Riveting New Series

The hit BBC drama Silent Witness is back with fresh faces and gripping storylines. Fans will meet new characters who shake up the famous Lyell Pathology team.

Meet Gabriel Folukoya – The Brainy Neuro-Pathologist

Aki Omoshaybi, known for The Pursuit Of Love and Queens Of Mystery, joins as Gabriel Folukoya. Gabriel is a sharp academic and neurologist, more comfortable with computer models than hands-on autopsies.

“I couldn’t be more excited to be joining such a long running and much loved series,” Aki says. “Gabriel prefers to model an autopsy than slice a body, but he knows he needs the practical experts like Nikki and Jack. He’s at a life crossroads, ready to open up and be more vulnerable.”

Velvy Schur – Wrestling With Faith and Career

Alastair Michael (Ridley Road, Snatch) takes on Velvy Schur, the new Anatomical Pathology Technologist trainee. Velvy has just left his ultra-Orthodox Jewish community, juggling his strong faith with a new career path.

“I’m delighted to be joining the cast of Silent Witness,” says Alastair. “Velvy’s journey from a strict religious background into the secular world is fascinating. He’s eager for new knowledge and friendships, though his curiosity might ruffle some feathers at the Lyell.”

Cara Connelly Returns – The Student Shaking Things Up

Rhiannon May reprises her role as Jack’s niece, Cara, who’s now a regular. Cara arrives unexpectedly to start a criminology degree, forcing Jack to let her stay. She quickly proves she’s more than just a student, hinting at a possible professional partnership with her uncle.

“I’m really excited to see my character Cara develop,” Rhiannon shares. “After leaving her overprotective mum in Belfast, she’s determined to find her independence and experience London life.”

Excitement Builds for the New Series

Suzi McIntosh, Executive Producer at BBC Studios, promises a smashing return: “With brilliant writers, directors and actors, this series will transport audiences into five very different worlds. Aki and Alastair are fantastic additions alongside the wonderful return of Rhiannon. I can’t wait for it to hit screens.”

Nawfal Faizullah, BBC Executive Producer, adds: “After a hugely successful anniversary series, Silent Witness is back and better than ever. Led by Emilia and David, with fresh talent joining the Lyell, audiences are in for a gripping ride.”

The 25th anniversary series of Silent Witness, launched in May 2022, was a smash hit. The opening episode pulled in 8.3 million viewers in its first 30 days, cementing the show as one of the BBC’s top scripted dramas.
