West Drayton Predator Benjamine Webb Jailed for Nearly 18 Years
Benjamine Webb, 30, has been locked up for 17 years and 9 months after detectives matched his distinctive tattoos from custody photos to those in a vile video of child abuse. The sickening case shook the West Drayton community, where Webb had spent years gaining the trust of victims’ families.
Horrific Crimes Exposed by Digital Detective Work
The Met’s Sexual Offences, Exploitation and Child Abuse Intelligence Unit launched the probe in January 2023 after spotting an indecent photo of a child on social media platform Kik. Their eagle-eyed officers quickly zeroed in on Webb, arresting him on 14 March 2023 for possession of indecent images and cannabis.
After seizing seven electronic devices, police uncovered hundreds of vile photos and videos showing the sexual abuse of children aged between one and nine—all from families Webb knew. Thanks to painstaking digital forensics, detectives safeguarded several children and identified multiple victims, including a toddler under five and a baby boy.
Detective Praises Victims’ Families Bravery
“This was a truly horrific set of crimes. This man preyed on young children and exploited them,” said Detective Constable Samantha Thompson, who led the investigation.
“He ruthlessly manipulated families to gain their trust. The sentence he received is fully justified and richly deserved. Breaking the horrific news to families was one of the toughest jobs we’ve done, and I’m grateful for their bravery and cooperation.
“Our use of technology and teamwork across the Met ensured this evil predator is off the streets. We remain committed to protecting the vulnerable and urge anyone with concerns to come forward.”
Webb to Face Strict Supervision Upon Release
Webb pled guilty on 12 July 2023 to a slew of charges including making and distributing indecent images, penetrating a boy under 13, and sexually assaulting a girl under 13. His sentencing took place on 4 April 2024 at Isleworth Crown Court.
When Webb eventually walks free, he will be slapped with a stringent Sexual Harm Prevention Order and a Restraining Order. The Met’s Jigsaw team will closely monitor him to deter reoffending.
