A27 Road Closure Between Lancing and Shoreham-by-Sea Due to Police Incident

 

The A27 in West Sussex is currently closed in both directions between the A2025 at Lancing and the A283 at Shoreham-by-Sea due to a police-led incident. Sussex Police are in attendance, and motorists are being advised to expect significant delays and use diversion routes.

The road closure has been in place since this morning, and authorities are working to manage the situation while ensuring public safety.

Diversion Routes
Motorists travelling westbound are advised to follow the “Hollow Triangle” diversion signs:

  • Exit the A27 at Adur viaduct and take the A283 northbound.
  • At Washington roundabout, take the 1st exit onto the A24 southbound.
  • Rejoin the A27 at Offington Corner roundabout.

For those travelling eastbound, follow the “Hollow Diamond” diversion signs:

  • Exit the A27 at Offington Corner roundabout.
  • Take the 1st exit onto the A24 northbound.
  • At Washington roundabout, take the 3rd exit onto the A283 southbound.
  • Rejoin the A27 at Adur viaduct.

Traffic Disruption Expected
The road closure is expected to cause delays in the area, and road users are advised to allow extra travel time or consider alternative routes where possible. The duration of the closure is currently unknown as the police continue their investigation.
