Appeal for Witnesses Following Fatal Collision in Westgate-on-Sea

Officers are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a fatal collision in Westgate-on-Sea on Saturday, 25 January 2025, which resulted in the death of one pedestrian and left another with serious injuries.

At approximately 5:06 pm, a blue Ford Fiesta was travelling towards Margate on the A28 Canterbury Road when it collided with two women who were crossing the carriageway at a traffic light-controlled pedestrian crossing at the junction with St Mildreds Road.

Emergency services, including officers from Kent Police and South East Coast Ambulance Service, attended the scene. Despite their efforts, one of the women, aged in her 70s, was confirmed dead at the scene. The second woman was treated for her injuries and was taken to hospital, where she remains in serious but stable condition.

Serious collision investigators are urging any witnesses who have not yet come forward to contact them. In particular, they are seeking anyone who may have seen the incident or who has relevant dashcam or CCTV footage.

Kent Police are continuing their investigation into the collision and are asking anyone with information to come forward to assist with their inquiries.
