Bromley Crash: Woman, 60, Fights for Life After Being Hit by Pickup Truck on High Street

A 60-year-old woman is in critical condition after being struck by a pickup truck in Bromley on Wednesday afternoon, May 14.

The incident occurred at approximately 4:10pm near the junction of High Street and Masons Hill, prompting a large emergency response.

Life-Threatening Injuries

Emergency services, including London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance, rushed to the scene and treated the woman for a serious head injury. She was transported by road to a major trauma centre, where her condition was described as life-threatening.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson confirmed:

“On Wednesday, 14 May at 16:12hrs, police were called to High Street, Bromley, following reports of a road traffic collision involving a truck and a pedestrian.”

“A 60-year-old woman was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital. Her injuries are believed to be life threatening.”

Driver Arrested

The driver of the truck, a 39-year-old woman, was arrested on suspicion of:

  • Causing serious injury by dangerous driving
  • Driving unfit through drink or drugs

She has since been bailed, pending further investigation.

Road Closure and Response

The road was closed for several hours while police conducted their inquiries but has since reopened.

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson added:

“We sent an ambulance crew, a paramedic in a fast response car and an incident response officer. We also dispatched London’s Air Ambulance.

“We treated an elderly patient for a serious head injury and took her to a major trauma centre by road as a priority.”

Witness Appeal

Police are likely to request dashcam footage or witness accounts as they continue their investigation into the collision in Bromley town centre.
