Brutal Cop Attack: Thug Jailed After Fracturing Officer’s Eye Socket
Jamie Henderson-Jones, 26, is behind bars after a savage assault on PC Jack Harper. The shocking attack in Wem on 10 July 2024 left the brave officer with a fractured eye socket.
Police Chase Ends in Shocking Violence
PC Harper and PCSO Liz Walmsey of the Wem Safer Neighbourhood Team spotted an Audi A3 driving down Station Road. The vehicle had been previously seized from Henderson-Jones for having no insurance.
Before officers could stop the car, Henderson-Jones and an accomplice bolted into a nearby block of flats. PC Harper gave chase, ordering Henderson-Jones to stop. That’s when the violent confrontation exploded.
From Shoves to Savage Punches
Henderson-Jones shoved PC Harper in the chest and pressed his hand over the officer’s face. The officer tried using PAVA spray, but it failed to halt the attack.
As Harper tried to flee down the stairs, Henderson-Jones followed and landed a brutal punch to the back of his head. The officer smashed through a window trying to escape, injuring his arm and upper body. Meanwhile, PCSO Walmsey was shoved into a wall as the thug made his getaway.
Police quickly caught up with Henderson-Jones and hauled him into custody.
Thug Faces Jail For Multiple Offences
Thankfully, PC Harper’s fractured eye socket didn’t need surgery. Henderson-Jones pleaded guilty to several charges, including grievous bodily harm, assaulting an emergency worker, and driving while disqualified. He was sentenced to two years behind bars.
Justice served for this vicious attack on Shropshire’s finest.
