A 10-year-old child has been left with potentially life-changing injuries after being struck by a car during a morning collision in Dagenham.
Emergency services were called to New Road at approximately 8:10am on Wednesday, April 23, following reports of a serious crash involving two pedestrians.
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said:
“Police were called by London Ambulance Service at 08:10hrs on Wednesday, 23 April following reports of a road traffic collision in Dagenham.
Officers attended the scene at New Road, where a car had been in collision with two pedestrians.
A 35-year-old woman and her 10-year-old child were taken to a trauma centre with non-life-threatening injuries. The child’s injuries are potentially life-changing.
No-one else was injured in the incident and no arrests have been made. Enquiries are ongoing.”
Public Appeal for Witnesses
The Met Police are urging anyone who witnessed the incident or may have dashcam footage to come forward to help with the investigation. Witnesses are asked to call 101, quoting reference 1334/23Apr.
Local residents have expressed concern over safety in the area, which is often busy with commuters and school traffic during morning hours. Calls for improved pedestrian crossings and traffic-calming measures have resurfaced in community discussions.
