Church Hall Fire in Romford Prompted Large-Scale Response

In the early hours of the morning, a significant fire broke out in a church hall located on St Andrews Road, Romford, prompting a rapid response from emergency services. Ten fire engines and approximately 70 firefighters rushed to the scene to tackle the blaze.

The fire, which engulfed parts of the ground floor, first floor, and the building’s roof, caused substantial damage to the property. To combat the flames effectively, firefighters deployed advanced equipment, including one of the Brigade’s 32m ladders, allowing them to attack the fire from above.

The intensity of the fire resulted in the production of a large volume of smoke, prompting authorities to advise residents in the vicinity to keep their doors and windows closed as a precautionary measure.

Firefighters from Dagenham, Ilford, Hainault, and neighbouring fire stations collaborated to contain the blaze and prevent further spread.

At present, the cause of the fire remains under investigation as authorities work to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
