Shock Murder in Earls Barton: Victim Named as Marion Price

Detectives have named the woman found dead in a village car park as Marion Price, 63, from Earls Barton. Marion was discovered in her car in a private residential car park on Elderton Way shortly after 8pm on Sunday, December 15.

Shotgun Wound Confirmed as Cause of Death

A post-mortem at Leicester Royal Infirmary confirmed Marion died from a shotgun wound. Detective Chief Inspector Joe Banfield, leading the East Midlands Special Operations Unit Major Crime Team, said:

“Marion, a much loved mum, grandmother, daughter and sister, tragically died after suffering serious injuries. Specialist trained officers are supporting her family and our thoughts remain with them at this extremely difficult time.”

Police Appeal for Witnesses and Dash-Cam Footage

DCI Banfield urged anyone who was in or near Earls Barton between 4pm and 8pm on Sunday to come forward. He said:

“I am particularly interested to hear from anyone who may have dash-cam footage or saw someone acting suspiciously.”

Suspect in Custody as Community Remains on Edge

A 69-year-old man from Northampton has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody following a 24-hour extension at Northampton Magistrates’ Court.

DCI Banfield added:

“Marion’s death has understandably shocked the local community. Neighbourhood officers have stepped up patrols in Earls Barton to provide reassurance and are happy to speak with residents.”

Officers will be patrolling the village on Tuesday, December 17, between 5pm and 7pm. Locals are encouraged to approach them with any concerns.
