Fan Falls to Death at Oasis Wembley Concert as Band Left ‘Shocked and Saddened’

Overview

An Oasis fan has tragically died after falling from the upper tiers of Wembley Stadium during the band’s blockbuster reunion concert on Saturday night.

The victim, believed to be a man in his 40s, plummeted from the stadium’s highest stands — approximately 170ft above ground — as the band concluded their set with fireworks and applause.

One horrified concert-goer who witnessed the tragedy said:

“At first, I thought it was a coat falling, but then I saw the bloke hit the concrete. It was horrific.”

Chaos in Tier 511

The incident reportedly occurred as fans were attempting to exit Upper Tier 511. Eyewitnesses described slippery conditions, with spilt drinks turning the steps into a “dangerous ice rink”.

Another fan wrote online:

“Walking down the steps, I thought it wouldn’t take much to slip and fall.”

One attendee recounted:

“I was in block 511 and the guy next to me slipped and fell. It was messed up.”

Band Issues Statement

Oasis, currently midway through their seven-night Wembley run as part of their long-awaited reunion tour, expressed their devastation:

“We are shocked and saddened to hear of the tragic death of a fan at the show last night. Oasis would like to extend our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the person involved.”

Emergency Response

Metropolitan Police confirmed officers responded at 10.19pm, finding the man with “injuries consistent with a fall.” Despite immediate medical intervention from stadium medics, London Ambulance Service, and police, the man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

Wembley Stadium released a statement:

“Our thoughts are with his family, who have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers. We are assisting police with their enquiries.”

Investigation Underway

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has been informed and may launch a formal investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fall.

Police are urging any witnesses to come forward by contacting 101 quoting reference CAD 7986/02AUG, or via @MetCC on X (Twitter).

Tour Continues Amid Shock

Despite the tragedy, Oasis went ahead with their scheduled fifth London performance on Sunday night. The band is set to tour North America before returning to London for two final Wembley dates in September.

The Gallagher brothers’ comeback tour has seen record-breaking demand, with over 14 million fans vying for tickets when the reunion was announced last year.
