Fatal Collision on A124 Barking Road: School Girl Killed by Reckless Driver

A woman from the local area has tragically died after being struck by a car driven by a reckless driver on the A124 Barking Road in Plaistow. The incident occurred at around 4:15 pm on October 15, when the driver, suspected to be under the influence of drink or drugs, ploughed onto a busy pavement, fatally injuring the woman before crashing into three parked vehicles.


 

Witnesses described the desperate efforts of passersby who tried in vain to rescue the woman, trapped under the vehicle. Several members of the public attempted to lift the car off the victim, but tragically, she could not be saved.

The driver was arrested at the scene on suspicion of being unfit to drive due to drink or drugs. The Metropolitan Police have cordoned off the area, and a major crime scene is in place as investigators work to understand the full circumstances of the collision.

A blue tent has been erected at the crash site, marking the severity of the incident. Multiple emergency services, including the London Fire Brigade, Metropolitan Police, and London Ambulance Service, have responded, with crash investigators and forensics officers now at the scene.

Transport for London (TfL) has confirmed that bus routes 5, 115, 330, and 147 have been diverted, and passengers are advised to check travel updates before continuing their journeys. Buses are being redirected via Boundary Road, Glen Road, Prince Regent Lane, and Newham Way.

The Metropolitan Police have yet to issue an official comment, but the investigation remains ongoing. Authorities are urging any witnesses to come forward and assist with their enquiries.
