Asylum Seeker Jailed for Life Over Brutal Murder at West Midlands Station
An asylum seeker has been slammed with a life sentence, facing a minimum of 29 years behind bars for the savage murder of a hotel worker at a West Midlands railway station.
Brutal Attack at Bescot Stadium Station
Deng Chol Majek carried out a vicious stabbing on 27-year-old Rhiannon Skye Whyte, plunging a screwdriver into her 23 times. Nineteen of those blows targeted her head in a gruesome assault back in October 2024.
CCTV footage captured Majek trailing Ms Whyte from the Park Inn hotel in Walsall, where he lived and she worked, all the way to Bescot Stadium station. The horrifying attack unfolded shortly after.
A passing train driver and guard found Ms Whyte critically injured on the platform. She battled for her life but sadly died in hospital three days later.
Cold-Blooded Killer Shows No Remorse
Majek, originally from Sudan, was sentenced today at Coventry Crown Court. Though he claimed to be 19, evidence proved he was actually 26 at the time of the attack.
The court heard Majek had previously unnerved female hotel staff by staring at them, raising serious security concerns.
Following the savage stabbing, Majek was spotted buying beer, wiping blood from his trousers, and chillingly caught on CCTV dancing in the hotel car park — a startling show of cold indifference.
Ms Whyte’s family branded Majek “demonic and inhuman.”
Police confirmed Majek showed no remorse throughout the investigation. Convicted in October, he now faces at least 29 years behind bars for his horrific crime.
