A major incident has forced the closure of the M50 eastbound between Junction 4 (Ross-on-Wye) and Junction 3 (Gorsley Common) due to a collision and significant flooding on the carriageway.
Emergency Response and Flooding Concerns
National Highways traffic officers are on scene, working alongside contractors who are attempting to manage the excessive water runoff from surrounding fields, which has exacerbated the situation.
Motorists are urged to avoid the area and seek alternative routes as the road is expected to remain closed for some time while emergency teams assess and clear the scene.
Diversion Routes in Place
Drivers traveling eastbound should follow the Solid Triangle diversion symbol on road signs:
- Exit the M50 at Junction 4 and take the A449 northbound.
- Continue on the A449 until reaching its junction with the A417, Ledbury.
- Take the exit to the A417 southbound and continue to M50 Junction 2.
Delays Expected – Plan Ahead
Motorists are advised to allow extra journey time, consider rerouting via alternative major roads, or delay travel if possible.
