A tragic fire at a residential care home in Shepherds Bush has claimed the life of a man and left two others injured.
The blaze broke out in a first-floor flat on Elgin Close at around 2:45 pm yesterday. Four fire engines and approximately 25 firefighters from Hammersmith, Chiswick, and Kensington fire stations were dispatched to tackle the incident.
Half of the first-floor flat was severely damaged by the flames. A man was discovered in the flat and pronounced dead at the scene. Two other individuals were treated by the London Ambulance Service and subsequently taken to the hospital.
London Fire Brigade Control Officers received the first of 11 emergency calls at 2:45 pm, with crews working tirelessly until the fire was declared under control by 4:45 pm.
An investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.
A spokesperson for the London Fire Brigade extended condolences to the victim’s family and stated: “Our thoughts are with those affected by this tragic incident.”
