London, UK – A manhunt is underway to trace a suspect identified as Abdul Shokoor Ezedi, aged 35, following a horrifying acid attack in Lambeth last night. The incident occurred on Wednesday, January 31, in Lessar Avenue, SW4, at approximately 19:25hrs.
According to Superintendent Gabriel Cameron, a senior officer in Lambeth, a woman aged 31 and her two daughters, aged eight and three, were the primary victims of the attack. While their injuries are not considered life-threatening, the woman and the younger child may face potential life-changing consequences. Hospital staff is closely monitoring their conditions.
Three courageous women, two in their 30s and one in her 50s, who came to the aid of the family during the attack, sustained minor burns injuries and have since been discharged from the hospital. Additionally, a man in his 50s, who also assisted the victims, declined hospital treatment for minor injuries.
Five officers who responded to the incident and were injured during their efforts have all received treatment and have been released from the hospital.
The police investigation is in its early stages, and authorities are working diligently to determine the motive behind this appalling incident. It is believed that the man and woman involved are known to each other.
The suspect, Abdul Shokoor Ezedi, attempted to flee the scene in a vehicle but collided with a stationary vehicle before escaping on foot in the direction of Clapham Common. Police have called on the public to provide any information that might help locate and apprehend Ezedi. They have also urged local residents to check their doorbell and dash cameras for potential footage of the suspect fleeing the area.
Superintendent Cameron commended the bravery of the members of the public who came to the aid of the victims and expressed gratitude to nearby hotel staff who provided refuge and assistance after the incident.
An extensive crime scene remains in place, with support from the London Fire Brigade, London Ambulance Service, and the National Police Air Service.
