18-Year-Old Dead After Violent Incident in Bodmin

Police in Cornwall have launched a murder probe after an 18-year-old man died following an early hours attack in Bodmin. The tragic incident happened shortly after midnight on Sunday, 23 July.

Chaos After Late-Night Altercation

Detective Inspector Ilona Rosson revealed the details: “We were called to a disturbance at a property on Wallace Street just after midnight. Several people fled the scene, including one seriously injured individual.”

A member of the public rushed the injured local man to Bodmin Hospital. Despite efforts to save him, the 18-year-old sadly died in the hospital car park. His family have been informed, though formal ID is pending.

Two Arrested as Scene Remains Guarded

The police have arrested a 17-year-old boy on suspicion of murder. Another 18-year-old local man faces charges of aggravated burglary. Officers have sealed off the hospital car park and surrounding areas as investigations continue, but reassure the public that the hospital is open and fully operational.

Police Urge Witnesses to Speak Up

Investigators want anyone who was near Wallace Street, Berrycombe Road, and the A389 (from Cardell Road to Bodmin Hospital) between 10pm on 22 July and 1:30am on 23 July to come forward.

They’re also looking for any CCTV, doorbell cam, or dashcam footage covering these areas during that time.

Detective Inspector Ilona Rosson said: “We understand the impact this has on the community and ask people to avoid speculation on social media. If you have any information, please contact us immediately.”

An increased police presence is expected as officers work to bring justice for the victim and his family.
