Totton Baby Survives Cardiac Arrest Thanks to Quick-Thinking Strangers
“The most terrifying experience of our lives,” say parents after their baby, Teddy, suffered cardiac arrest during a family outing in Totton on March 8th.
Heroes Step In Before Ambulance Arrives
Matthew and Jennifer Blandford credit local heroes and passers-by who rushed to Teddy’s aid before paramedics arrived. Thanks to their swift action and the presence of a paediatric nurse and midwife Natasha Wrann, Teddy is alive today.
“Fortunately, members of the public stepped forward and resuscitated Teddy. We are so grateful,” said Matthew Blandford. “I was in shock and couldn’t speak to the wonderful ladies who gave immediate first aid; all I wanted to know was if Teddy was still alive. Please accept my heartfelt gratitude.”
Local First Responders Praise Team Effort
Sue Simpson, a St John Ambulance first responder, was on the scene and has not stopped thinking about Teddy. She said:
“I was so proud to be part of the team that helped keep him alive. I’m overjoyed he’s making it. Much love to the family.”
Mel Macaulay, who arrived early with her friend Lily, added:
“This has made my entire year. Teddy’s a fantastic baby with a fantastic family. I’m so happy for them.”
