A suspected arson attack on a train carriage at Leyton Underground station last night has prompted a police appeal for witnesses. The incident occurred on Saturday, 2 December 2023, causing extensive damage to the train.

The police were called to the scene just before 11:50 pm following reports of a bag that had melted into the floor of a train carriage. It is believed that the train arrived at Leyton Underground station around 10:13 pm when smoke was observed emanating from one of the carriages.
