Six Treated After House Fire in East Ham

Six people were treated by paramedics following a house fire in East Ham during the early hours of Tuesday morning.

The blaze broke out at a mid-terrace house on St Stephen’s Road, prompting a swift response from London Fire Brigade. Control Officers received the first of ten emergency calls at 1:58am, with four fire engines and around 25 firefighters dispatched from Plaistow, Stratford, East Ham, and Leytonstone fire stations.

Half of the first floor of the property was damaged by the fire. All six occupants managed to escape the building before firefighters arrived and were treated at the scene by London Ambulance Service crews.

The fire was brought under control by 3:22am. The cause of the blaze is believed to have been electrical.

Fire crews have since reminded residents of the importance of electrical safety and ensuring working smoke alarms are fitted in their homes.
