Cold Case Shocker: Two Men Charged in 1984 Murder of Anthony Littler
Decades after the brutal killing, police have finally charged two men over the 1984 murder of Anthony Littler. The Metropolitan Police confirmed the breakthrough in the long-unsolved case.
Victim Found Dead on East End Road, Finchley
Anthony Littler, 45, was discovered with severe injuries on 1 May 1984 near East End Road in East Finchley. Sadly, he was pronounced dead at the scene, a tragedy that haunted the community for years.
Despite the passage of nearly 40 years, the Met’s Specialist Crime Unit never gave up. They pursued fresh leads relentlessly and provided constant support to Anthony’s family throughout the investigation.
Two Men Arrested and Charged
On 21 March 2024, two men were detained in connection with the cold case. Now, both face murder charges:
- Michael Stewart, 55, of Station Road, EN5
- Anthony Stewart, 59, of Old Farm Road, N29
Both suspects have been remanded in custody and will appear at Willesden Magistrates’ Court on 6 March.
Investigation Still Active, Police Seek Public Help
The Met also revealed that three other men arrested earlier remain under investigation. The force continues to hunt for the truth and urges anyone with information to come forward.
