Van Fire Sparks Emergency Response on A356 Near Maiden Newton

A van fire on the A356 near Maiden Newton prompted an emergency response this afternoon Friday 14 March 2025.

At approximately 3.45pm a crew from Dorchester Fire Station was dispatched to the scene following reports of a vehicle ablaze on the roadside.

Firefighters quickly arrived and worked to bring the fire under control. The van was found well alight, and crews used hose reel jets to extinguish the flames.

No injuries have been reported, and the cause of the fire is not yet known. The incident caused some disruption to traffic in the area while emergency services dealt with the situation.

Drivers were advised to proceed with caution while recovery and safety checks were carried out.

An investigation into the cause of the blaze is expected to follow.
