Serious Crash Closes A3 Southbound Near Ripley

The A3 in Surrey is shut southbound between the B2039 and the A247 near Ripley after a serious one-vehicle collision just before 9pm on Tuesday, May 1.

Emergency Crews On Scene

Surrey Police are working alongside South East Coast Ambulance and Surrey Fire and Rescue teams. Three fire engines from Guildford, Painshill, and Esher have arrived, using specialist cutting gear to rescue a trapped occupant inside the vehicle.

Serious Injuries Reported

The trapped individual is said to have serious injuries. A diversion is in place, routing traffic off the A3 at Ockham Park, through Ripley, and back on at Burntcommon to ease congestion.

Road Closure to Last into Early Hours

By 10.43pm, all trapped traffic had been cleared, but the A3 remains closed southbound between B2039 and A247. Police have not yet released details or appealed for witnesses. The closure is expected to last into the early hours of Wednesday morning.
