Leah’s Tragic Mystery Ends in Grim Discovery
Leah’s family endured almost four years of agonising uncertainty. Now, police have made a heartbreaking breakthrough in the case of the missing woman last seen in February 2019.
Body Found at Milton Keynes Property
On Monday evening, Thames Valley Police were tipped off about a property on Loxbeare Drive, Furzton, Milton Keynes. Officers arrived quickly and discovered a rucksack and personal items belonging to Leah. Tragically, human remains were also recovered nearby.
The investigation has now shifted from a missing person’s inquiry to a full murder probe as detectives race to uncover the truth.
Suspect Named—but Dead
Detectives have identified a suspect: Neil Maxwell. However, Maxwell was found dead in April 2019, having taken his own life. He was the sole holder of keys to the Loxbeare Drive house and had been carrying out maintenance work there since November 2018, while the property’s owner lived abroad.
Maxwell had a criminal record for sexual offences and was wanted for a sexual assault in Newport Pagnell in late 2018. Police tried 18 times to arrest him nationwide before his death in April 2019.
Though named a suspect, police stress Maxwell’s guilt is not confirmed. “We have an open mind and will pursue all leads,” said a spokesperson.
Police Appeal for Information
Thames Valley Police are urging anyone who met Maxwell between November 2018 and April 2019, or anyone with useful information, to come forward. Contact the force via their website or call 101 quoting ‘Op Innsbruck’. An anonymous tip can also be given through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
For locals near Loxbeare Drive, forensic examinations will continue for weeks, so the investigation is far from over.
