Cyclist Killed in Horror Lorry Crash on Southampton City Centre Street
A man in his 50s has died following a tragic crash with a lorry in Southampton this afternoon.
Crash Sends Cyclist to Hospital – Later Dies
Emergency services rushed to East Park Terrace just before 2pm after a low loader lorry collided with the cyclist. The victim, a local man, was quickly taken to Southampton General Hospital but sadly could not be saved.
Major Roads Closed, Traffic Chaos in City Centre
The crash has caused severe traffic delays, with both East Park Terrace and New Road remaining closed this evening. Traffic in the heart of Southampton crawled to a halt as crews worked the scene.
Police Appeal for Witnesses and Dashcam Footage
Officers are urging anyone who saw the crash or has dashcam footage to come forward. “There were a lot of people in the area at the time,” said a spokesman for the Road Policing team. Several witnesses at the scene have been interviewed, but police want to hear from anyone else who might help.
