The Dartford Crossing was partially closed today after police responded to welfare concerns for a man on the bridge.
At around 12 pm, Essex Police were called to the scene following reports of a man in distress on the Dartford Crossing bridge. Lane 1 of the crossing was subsequently closed for approximately two hours as officers and ambulance crews worked to resolve the situation.
Man Led to Safety
After a coordinated response, medical professionals led the man to safety. Road closures remained in place until 2 pm, causing delays of up to 60 minutes for drivers. Once the situation was resolved, all lanes were reopened, and traffic began to return to normal.

“We were called to an incident on the Dartford Crossing bridge shortly after 12 pm today (Saturday, 29 March). Officers responded to concerns for the welfare of a man on the bridge and worked alongside ambulance service colleagues at the scene. The man has been brought to safety and left in the care of medical professionals. This response necessitated the closure of the bridge to traffic.”
