High-Speed Chase Ends in Hackney After Officer Injured

Police tried to pull over a grey Lexus on the A12 near Barley Lane, Redbridge, around 4.45pm on Tuesday, 6 August. The driver refused to stop, sparking a dangerous pursuit.

Officer Hurt After Dangerous Crash

Officers set up a ‘stinger site’ to stop the car, but the driver mounted the pavement and crashed into an officer. The injured cop was rushed to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and is now being cared for by colleagues.

Car Abandoned in Hackney – Police Hunt Driver

The suspect fled the scene, abandoning the Lexus on the Kings Mead estate in Hackney. Police smashed one of the car’s windows during the chase – a detail witnesses may have seen.

Detective Inspector Jonathan Potter said: “We need your help to identify the driver. Did you see the grey Lexus between the A12 and Hackney? Our colleague was hurt trying to protect the public from a reckless driver. No one should be injured while doing their job.”
