Daniel Boakye, 21, aka drill rapper Dsavv, has finally been caught in France after a daring double jailbreak and weeks of trolling cops on social media. The Met confirmed his arrest in La Bouëxière, near Nantes, came just a day after he posted a video dancing shirtless to his own rap celebrating his escape.
From Knifepoint Robberies to Cross-Channel Escape
- Boakye was jailed last July for a string of knife-point robberies and was set for deportation to Ghana.
- He first escaped custody on 10 February from West Middlesex University Hospital but was quickly recaptured.
- On 15 February, he fled again – this time from Lewisham Hospital – and stayed on the run for over two weeks.
- Reports suggest he was smuggled out of the UK hidden inside a lorry.
Mocking Police with Music While on the Run
Rather than hiding, Boakye flaunted his freedom on Instagram, where nearly one million followers watched his antics. He posted videos rapping:
“I just broke out of jail like Modie” — referencing Netflix’s Top Boy. “F*** the government fam, there phoneys.” “Done it twice, now they think I’m insane… catch me if you can.”
His track The Race declared himself “the boss of UK,” taunted the Met, and boasted about evading custody twice.
Back in UK Custody Soon as Police Probe Escape Network
The Met say Boakye will be returned to the UK imminently. Meanwhile, detectives are hot on the trail of anyone who helped him flee, with investigations ongoing into his alleged smuggling out of Britain.
