Flat Fire in Marden Caused by Discarded Cigarette: No Injuries Reported – UKNIP

A flat fire in Cranham Square, Marden, was swiftly brought under control by Kent Fire and Rescue Service on Saturday afternoon. The blaze, which broke out at around 2:59 PM, prompted a significant emergency response involving three fire engines and specialist equipment.

Firefighters, wearing breathing apparatus, used high-pressure hose reel jets and main jets to extinguish the flames. The incident was fully under control by 4:49 PM.

Preliminary investigations suggest the fire was accidentally caused by a poorly discarded cigarette. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

A spokesperson for Kent Fire and Rescue said:
“This serves as a vital reminder to dispose of smoking materials safely and never leave them unattended.”
